The popular modeling and simulation tools used around the world today for modeling grid behavior are just not sensitive enough to adequately plan for the addition of substantial renewable and distributed energy resources. Especially as the penetration of wind power rises above 5-10% in a grid that is not extremely large and stable, grid managers must be equipped to anticipate problems and prevent them. Otherwise the grid is exposed to too much risk of instability and potentially catastrophic failure.

High Definition Modeling

This is why we have developed modeling techniques that operate a level below conventional grid-simulation tools – down in the underlying differential equations that drive the model itself. This has enabled us to build models with unprecedented power and focus:

  1. Our models "see" individual wind generators and widely dispersed wind farms, for example, as clearly as they see prime-mover power-gen assets. They understand how every component in the system impacts grid stability.
  2. We can model your grid using a variety of simulation tools – including the one that you are using now: MatLab/PST, DigSILENT, CYME, PSCAD, or PSS/E.

    A High Definition "boost" will enable you to drill down to see individual resources and their influence on grid stability without having to waste time learning a new modeling tool.
