Spirae is pleased to announce the reappointment of Ms. Julie Zinn, Spirae's Chief Operating Officer, to the Colorado Workforce Development Council (CWDC). The CWDC is the State Workforce Investment Board and their mission is "to create a business-focused workforce system that effectively helps to prepare Coloradoans for the jobs of today and tomorrow."
The role of the Colorado Workforce Development Council:
Responsible for the continuous improvement of the workforce system, oversight of Workforce Investment Act funds, and ensuring a statewide strategic vision created from the bottom up through Council members and local partners.
Act as a neutral forum for determining the cost of potential regulation and policy to businesses and its impact on the ability of businesses to create jobs.
Focus on business needs to create a talent-based, skilled workforce through the alignment of initiatives in education, workforce and economic development.
Leverage partnerships to identify needs and gaps and create sustainable solutions and their funding.

The Pacific Northwest Smart Grid Demonstration Project (PNW-SGDP), led by Battelle, involves a number of utilities and demonstration sites deploying “Transactive Control” as the unifying smart grid technology. Spirae implemented Transactive Control for the asset systems of multiple program participants, including Flathead Electric Cooperative, Avista Utilities, Idaho Falls Power, University of Washington, and Northwestern Energy. Spirae also provided project-level support by testing Battelle’s transactive control algorithms and provided assistance to other subprojects.
Using its BlueFin platform, Spirae coordinated control of distributed assets ranging from distributed battery storage, residential thermostats, water heater Demand Response Units, and Smart Appliances, to commercial Building Management Systems and chillers, natural gas, steam and diesel power generation in order to accomplish participant and project goals. To support and enhance participant response, Spirae led efforts to test the various asset systems and implement automatic data collection of transactive and non-transactive data, and provided load prediction, forecasting tools, and validation of transactive control algorithms. On Friday Nov. 8th the researchers from CEE and Spirae demonstrated a new milestone capability for PowerLabDK: Spirae's BlueFin (R) control platform and their multi-asset-controller were tested using a wide range of PowerLabDK's infrastructure. Spirae is a Colorado-based control solutions provider and known in Denmark for having implemented the “Cell controller” in Energinet.dk’s “Cell” project. Read More
